Dr. Tracy Tinsley
Growing up
Dr. Tinsley was introduced to horses at a young age visiting her grandmother’s farm. From here the seed was planted. Riding lessons led to leasing a horse, joining the United States Pony Club and eventually horse ownership and the desire to be an equine veterinarian. Pony Club, competing Morgan Horses in breed shows, dressage and combined training brought valuable lessons in horsemanship and husbandry.
Education
Dr. Tinsley received her B.S. in Equine Science from Colorado State University in 1999. From there, she went on to the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine where she received a B.S. in Veterinary Science in 2002 and my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2004. Following completion of veterinary school she completed an Equine Medicine and Surgery Internship at the University of Missouri in 2005. In 2018 she began a residency residency with the American Veterinary Dental College. She completed the program in 2024 and was accepted as a diplomate of the college as a Board Certified Equine Dentist. She is the only Board Certified Equine Veterinary Dentist in North Carolina.
Dr. Tinsley continues to share her love of education through teaching other veterinarians at continuing education courses, speaking at national and international meetings and as a guest instructor at NC State College of Veterinary Medicine.
Private Practice
Dr. Tinsley has practiced as an equine veterinarian since graduation from veterinary school in 2004. From 2005-2018 she was an equine primary care veterinarian first outside of Atlanta, GA and then here in North Carolina. During these years in private practice she enjoyed all aspects of equine medicine and surgery, but the unique challenges and rewards of equine dentistry were where she found her passion. In 2018 she decided to leave primary care and open Elite Equine Mobile Dentistry in order to specialize in equine dental care.
